Grace Baptist Church loves children. We pray that each and every child attending our church knows and understands that God loves them, and that they will receive Christ as their Lord and Saviour at an early age. We have a great staff of teachers, all vetted and cleared with background checks. To that end, we offer the following ministries for our children:
We have graded Sunday School classes every Sunday morning at 9:30am. Bro. Tony Hash is our Sunday School Superintendent, who oversees the detailed activities of our children's Sunday School classes.
We have a fully staffed Nursery for all children up to age 2. Mrs. Ruth Rose oversees all nursery care, and ensures that there are always at least 2 adult ladies taking care of children in the nursery.
Mrs. Rose and Mrs. Courtney Rose team teach the preschool children. They sing songs and hear Bible stories, and do Bible-related age-appropriate crafts for their enjoyment.
Mrs. Karen Karney teaches the 1st-3rd grade children, teaching them Bible stories and helping them to begin to memorize short Bible memory verses. They also enjoy craft time.
Mrs. Bea Beckstrand teaches the 4th-6th grade children, encouraging them to read Bible scripture and learn of Christ and His love. They have singing, Bible lessons, scripture memory, and crafts.
Pastor Rose teaches the teenagers, grades 7-12. Pastor Rose emphasizes scripture memory, and the teens often quote scripture from memory during regular church services. He also teaches them Bible lessons, with themes important to teen issues.
During our regular church services, Mrs. Courtney Rose teaches the preschoolers, continuing in her curriculum from Sunday School.
Bro. and Mrs. James Williams organize a children's church program for all elementary age children. They meet in the house across the street. They enjoy singing, Bible Sword drills, age-appropriate Bible preaching and teaching, magic tricks, and light physical sctivities.
The teens worship in the main auditorium with the adults for both the morning and afternoon worship services.
PATCH THE PIRATE CLUB - Wednesday nights
On Wednesday nights, we have a Patch The Pirate Club for children 3 years old through 6th grade, headed up by Mrs. Courtney Rose. The children have Bible stories, scripture memorization, and game time. They earn badges for various achievements throughout the years. It is a great time of excitement and growing in the Lord for the children.
Other activities planned throughout the year include Camp Grace, Vacation Bible School, and the annual children's Christmas Program.
A big part of the church summer program for children is Camp Grace. Grace Baptist Church operates its own week-long camp for all children 4th-12th grades, usually in June, giving the children a chance to camp with other children, and let God work in their hearts and lives. Cost is kept as low as possible, so that all children can attend. The children often work small jobs to earn money for camp, and many church members sponser a child for camp. There are also fund raisers at the church throughout the year to help defray camp costs. The children travel to a location, where they have sleeping quarters and 3 meals a day, plus snacks. Six days are filled with Bible lessons, music competitions, Bible Sword drills, afternoon sports activities, and services in the evening.
Bro. and Mrs. George Martinez, and their daughter, Chelsea, plan and organize every aspect of the camp. Camp Grace is one of the biggest highlights of the year for the children. In June 2018, more than 50 children attended camp. Children were saved, lives were dedicated to Christ, and decisions were made for Christian Service.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Another very big summer activity for the children at Grace Baptist Church is VBS. Mrs. Alinda Hash and Mrs. LaDonna Williams conduct this vigorous activity each August. VBS is held at the church, for 5 days, in the evenings from 6:30-9:00pm. A Bible theme is emphasized the entire week, and the church auditorium is turned into a "dungeon", or "outer space", or whatever the theme entails. Bible lessons are taught each night, with the children divided into appropriate age groups. Mrs. Williams "wows" the children (and adults) with magic tricks that teach biblical standards. The children enjoy singing, puppet shows, plays, sports activities, crafts, and snacks. VBS is free to all who attend; a love offering of pennies is taken each night, with a competition between the boys and the girls to "break the scales"; the children squeal with delight at the fun. Again, VBS is a major summer highlight for the children at Grace Baptist Church. Every year, children are saved, which is the primary goal of the week.
